I’ve always been a morning person. I like waking up at a reasonable time (I am not a 5 a.m. morning person). I go to bed early because I would rather sleep longer than stay up late watching a movie. I like waking up in time to feel like I can still have a productive day.
When I was in university, I remember waking up every day, at least two hours before the start of my earliest class so I would have time to make breakfast, read, watch something on my laptop and then get ready for class.
That sort of became my morning routine when I entered into the working world too. My morning time became my “me time”. It was the only time I was ‘alone’ in the course of my day and could do whatever I wanted to get myself ready for the day ahead.
I didn’t realize how much this routine was important to me and really added to my mental health until I recently got it back.
Before we dive in, I am not talking about an extensive routine of aesthetic exercise, green smoothies, 10 step skincare, or other morning routines that you have probably seen on TikTok. Watching those kind of morning routines seriously stresses me out and is NOT what I am going to talk about here. I’m talking about an actually slow morning that gets you ready for the day but doesn’t make you feel like a failure if you don’t hit everything on the list.
Let’s get into it.
